Near the south German town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Partnach stream cut a gorge into the mountains and created the Partnach Gorge (German: Partnachklamm). This was millions of years ago. Yet, the gorge is still here and can be visited against a small entrance fee. The path is narrow, you certainly get wet – but visiting a gorge is definitely worth it!
Partnach Gorge in Brown, Black and White
I’ve already been to some gorges in summer but until this day, I had never been to one during winter. There was almost no color at all. Only black, white and shades of brown. Icicles hanging from the rocks, frozen waterfalls – and a lot of snow preventing me from going any further than trough the gorge and back.
Have you ever been to a gorge in Germany?
In summer or winter?
Tell me about it in a comment!
